Toxic Masculinity.

This project explores masculinity and toxic masculinity through a series of images which represent what it really means to be masculine rather than what society has turned it into. This project aims to evoke questioning within the audience through exposing societies simplified meaning of masculinity and the reductive nature of toxic masculinity. The images aim to present the audience with the complexity of masculinity through showing it in its different shapes and forms.

This project contains primary research in the form of quotes in relation to masculinity which accompany the images in order to give context to them alongside a personal aspect to them. This project originally aimed to construct an oppositional representation of masculinity in order to conjure up questioning however throughout the project it turned more towards capturing the authentic masculine.

Masculinity is a complex topic which is largely misunderstood, this project aims to inform and improve societies view on it.
